Women in Type
Women in Type is an initiative led by Flavia Zimbardi that aims to fight gender imbalance in the type community and empower more female-identifying designers to release their projects.
Phase 1 brings three collaborative typefaces, Octavia with Tida Tep, Jobim with Inga Plönnigs, and Hanae with Ayaka Ito, that adopt a version-based “in progress” model—where you can purchase a cross-platform license (covering Desktop, Web, and App) at any point of their production and get access to all future updates for free.
It’s an opportunity to support women while investing in high-quality fonts for a fraction of their final price, fostering a more inspiring and equal creative industry.
General
By downloading and/or installing, copying, or using the Font Software, You agree with the terms of this Agreement, and that all rights to the Fonts and all intellectual property in them are owned by Flavia Zimbardi and their collaborators co-credited in the designs.
Upon payment in full, Flavia Zimbardi grants You a non-exclusive, and non-transferable license to use the Fonts. There is no expiry to this Agreement or its terms, so You may use the Fonts in perpetuity. There is also no geographic limitation, You may use the Fonts worldwide.
You are not permitted to modify, adapt, convert, translate, reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, alter, or create derivative works of the Fonts. You are not permitted to rent, lease, sublicense, give, lend, or further distribute the Fonts or any copy thereof.
The examples below summarise the most common use cases our customers have. Once you have identified yours please read all terms carefully, as the license will become a formal contract between You and Flavia Zimbardi. In case You are unsure whether your usage is permitted or not, please get in touch via type@flaviazim.com.
Test Fonts
We are happy to supply OTF and WOFF files on demand with a reduced character set and no OpenType features.
Please note that Test Fonts can only be used within your organization.

Installation
You are permitted to install and use the Fonts on the number of computers You purchased the Fonts for. Any agencies, studios, sub-contractors, affiliates, or vendors of the licensee (You), or organizations owned by the licensee, must acquire their own separate licenses.
The Fonts are provided in OTF ( OpenType CFF ) format. You are not permitted to convert the Fonts in any other format.
Authorized Use
You can use the Fonts for all kinds of printed matters (static/rasterized images) including, but not limited to books, posters, magazines, and packaging design, as well as for logos, visual identities, marketing, and applications in which the font software is not embedded within the medium. Embedding of Fonts in digital/PDF documents is allowed as long as 1) the Font Software is subset, 2) the document text can be viewed and printed but not edited, and 3) reasonable measures are taken to ensure recipients of documents cannot extract or use the embedded Fonts.
Web License
Styling, viewing, or editing text in a web-based application that can’t be edited by the end users to create a new output.

Authorized Use
You can use the Fonts with @fontface on the desired website up to the number of visitors for whom You purchased the license. Should the number of visitors exceed the licensed amount, an upgrade must be requested.
The Web Fonts are provided in WOFF and WOFF2 formats. You are not permitted to convert the Fonts in any other format. If an alternative is preferred, please get in contact with Flavia Zimbardi. Viewing and printing pages of the website is allowed, still providing the ability for a remote user to edit text using the Web Fonts is not permitted.
Web Usage Only
The use of Web Fonts on a desktop, laptop, or workstation computer is prohibited. The embedding or inclusion of Web Fonts or the designs forming the Web Fonts, in software, hardware, digital documents, apps, applications, devices, or in any other form is also prohibited. If You wish to use the Fonts in a manner not described on this license, You must secure a separate license and/or an extension.
Development Environment
You may use the Web Fonts in a secure development environment related to the domain specified on Your license and controlled by You. You may not: (a) convert the Web Fonts into other formats; (b) lend, or allow use of the Fonts via hotlinking or unauthorized access.
Transfer of licensed domain
You may transfer the rights to use the Web Fonts to a different domain owned by You and the content of which You control. The transfer must be notified in writing to Flavia Zimbardi, and You must delete the Web Fonts from the server on the previously licensed domain. Transfer of this license to a third party is not permitted.
Broadcasting License
Use of the Fonts across broadcasting networks or within a TV show/series, film/movie, or other content intended for broadcast, as well as the related marketing communications to promote that content.

You are permitted to use the Fonts in the creation of media and assets for all forms of motion pictures, and streaming communication for public broadcast. Similar to the Web License, prices are related to the amount of viewers — viewers correspond to the same amount of visitors in the Web License. Should the number of viewers exceed, an upgrade must be purchased.
The Broadcasting License can only be used in addition to a Desktop License for the number of computers that the Fonts are used on.
App & Embedding License
You are permitted to embed the Fonts into the number of Apps or E-books for whom You purchased the license. In case You want to embed the Fonts into operating systems, electronic devices, games, or any kind of templates, please get in contact with Flavia Zimbardi.
Forbiden Usages
You are not permitted to create any kind of commercialized product that purely lives off of the design of the Fonts.
You are not permitted to use the Fonts for any kind of discriminating usage.
Warranty & Limitations
The Fonts are a work in progress and are provided as is. For the very rare case You stumble upon mistakes or the Fonts don’t work as expected, please get in contact with Flavia Zimbardi, and we will do our best to fix the problem.
Flavia Zimbardi is not liable for any kind of direct, indirect, consequential, incidental, or special damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, loss of savings, loss of business, etc. Flavia Zimbardi cannot be held responsible for any damages caused or borne by the end-user and/or third parties resulting from misuse of the Font Software.
Legal
This page contains the entire agreement relating to its subject matter and replaces any prior agreements or understandings. This agreement can only be modified by a document signed by Flavia Zimbardi. If any part of this agreement is found void or unenforceable, it will not affect the rest of the agreement. This agreement is governed by the laws of Germany and any disputes or legal proceedings will be handled entirely in Berlin.
Discounts for Customers from Less Advanced Economies
Flavia Zimbardi is committed to offering options that better suit customers that operate in less advanced economies, in order to make font licensing more affordable and accessible. This effort is part of a continuous endeavor of making the type industry more inclusive and diversified, facilitating the path toward font compliance. Therefore a reduced rate, with a 30% discount is applicable to people and businesses living and working in the countries listed below. Please send an email to type@flaviazim.com to request your code.
